We had invited the Porters, Alice and David to join us for the Fourth Of July afternoon. We were going to have grilled steaks in our back yard. They came two hours early. I changed back into my street clothes and switched out the huge all-purpose absorbent pad for one of my oh-my-god-I’m-never-going-to-stop-bleeding maxipads. Irregular my periods might be, but my flow is consistent. I was used to seeing a lot more blood than this. Still in a daze, I was helped back to the main waiting room.
